Not all LASIK surgery is the same. There are two variations on LASIK that cater to special patients who may have a concern or special condition. It is a good idea to get as much information as possible about LASIK before undergoing the surgery. Learning about these two procedures may help you to find the one that is the best choice for you. You may find that if you went through with regular LASIK you would have opened yourself to a world of risk. So read on to see if you fit into a special situation and if one of these types of LASIK would be best for you.

Thin blade LASIK is used for patients that have thin corneas. In thin blade LASIK the flap cut is thinner, allowing more of an area for the surgeon to shape with the laser. It is important that a surgeon ensure that the cornea is thick enough, though. Even with the thin blade procedure some patients corneas will still not bee thick enough. Doing the procedure on someone whose cornea is far too thin can result in complications.

Large zone ablations is a treatment method used to help reduce glare, halos and night vision problems that can result after a LASIK procedure. These complications are among the most common. In this procedure pulses are used to smooth the outer edge of the cornea. It works to help reduce or limit vision problems after surgery.

LASIK is a big decision. It can help to have options. If you have thin corneas or you are worried about problems afterward then finding a surgeon who can perform thin blade LASIK and Large zone ablations is a good idea. You should talk with your doctor about his abilities and your options. This way you can ensure you will be able to have all options available to you.

Thanks
