When it comes to LASIK surgery it is not only the surgeon that you should be checking out but the equipment as well. There are quite a few lasers that are approved for use in LASIK surgery. The information about the lasers can help you to make sure that your surgeon is using the best laser possible.

The lasers used in LASIK are called excimer lasers. There are numerous lasers approved by the FDA for LASIK surgery. Even though they are approved it does not mean they will work for all LASIK procedures. Some lasers only approved only to treat certain prescriptions. Some are to be used with certain methods only. Some can work for patients with astigmatism while others can not.

Your surgeon should be able to explain the laser he will use to you. He should provide you with documentation to explain that the laser is approved to treat your particular eye condition. It is also important to make sure your doctor has experience using this laser. He should have been trained on the laser and have a good record of use with it.

If you want to look further into the laser that will be used you can check the manufacturers website or call the company. They should be able to answer any questions. To ensure the laser is FDA approved you can check the FDA website.

After getting more information about the laser your surgeon will use you can check it out and see if you are satisfied with that laser. Remember, though, that the laser only plays a small role in your LASIK experience. Your surgeon is the most important factor. It is his skills and abilities that will determine the final outcome. SO, if you are happy with your doctor then trust his opinion on the laser he will use.
Thanks
