Benefits of LASIK, LASEK, PRK - Reasons for a Laser Eye Surgery

In order to get a realistic idea of the benefits of a successful LASIK, LASEK, PRK you should take the time to go through the FDA's LASIK checklist and our laser eye sugery guidelines. A well-informed candidate for laser eye surgery is more likely to be a satisfied patient. If your LASIK risk score is low, if you reduce external risk factors and if you comply with the instructions of your physician after refractive surgery, IntraLASIK, LASIK, LASEK, PRK, Epi-LASIK can contribute to a higher quality of life.

Above all this means the independence from visual aids like conventional glasses and contact lenses. Contact lenses also offer many of the benefits offered by laser eye surgery. However, there is a psychological difference concerning the dependence on corrective lenses. It may enhance your quality of life tremendously if you only need to wear weak glasses when 100% vision is required, for instance when you're driving or attending congresses. Furthermore, there are lots of small benefits like always having an unhindered view, a better peripheral vision, a clear vision when wake up in the morning, etc.

LASIK, LASEK, PRK are a good option especially for people working in a dusty environment like construction workers, bakers, people in the wood-working industry, but also for chefs or top athletes because glasses or contact lenses can present a real handicap for these types of occupation.

When you are nearsighted and your spherical equivalent is less than -5 diopters, but your defective vision can't be sufficiently corrected by glasses due to a complicated corneal irregularity and your eyes can't stand rigid/inflexible contact lenses, you may achieve a better visual acuity by means of topography-guided or aberrometer-guided IntraLASIK, LASIK, LASEK, PRK, Epi-LASIK.

Perhaps you find your looks more appealing without glasses but your eyes can't stand rigid/inflexible or soft contact lenses anymore.

If you wear only contact lenses and spend 300 euros annually on them, laser eye surgery will pay for itself within 5-15 years, depending on how much you spend on it.
